Where should I go?
- Lexington Pediatrics:
- Go to PM Pediatrics if our office is closed AND:
- Vomiting 2 or more times within 24 hours of injury
- Less than 6 months old if acting abnormal
- Go to the ER if:
- The patient is unconscious or has an altered mental status
- Difficult to awaken or keep awake, slurred speech, weakness of arms, or unsteady walking
Home Care:
- You can give acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain.
- You can apply a cold compress to the area for 20 minutes to help with swelling.
- Watch your child closely for 2 hours after the injury. It is okay if they sleep during this time, but once two hours have passed wake them up and check that they are alert and know who you are.
