Katharine Garnett, MD
Katharine Garnett, MD, is the newest member of Lexington Pediatrics, having joined in April, 2009.
Dr. Garnett attended Bates College where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology. In her junior year, she spent a semester abroad in Tanzania, East Africa, where she studied wildlife ecology and conservation, as well as East African culture, language and history. Upon graduation, she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa society.
After graduating from college, Dr. Garnett spent a year doing bench research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital before matriculating at University of Vermont, College of Medicine, where she earned her medical degree in 2002.
Dr. Garnett completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts, in Worcester, and practiced pediatrics in the Worcester area before joining Lexington Pediatrics. She has a particular interest in newborn medicine.
When not in the office, Dr. Garnett enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children.
Dr. Garnett is board certified in pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society.

SPOTLIGHT

Dr. Garnett has a particular interest in childhood literacy and education.
As a medical student she was a leader of 'SMILE DOC' (Students of Medicine Involved in Local Education; Doctors Ought to Care) and more recently, started a 'Reach Out and Read' program at her previous practice, serving as medical director.

Reach Out and Read is a national nonprofit organization that promotes early literacy by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading in exam rooms across the country.
